Marc-Anthony Massaro’s grandfather, Frank Consiglio, came to New Haven from Amalfi, Italy in 1910. His family settled in the Wooster Square neighborhood, working as commercial fishermen. Consiglio’s nephew, Salvatore, opened Sally’s Apizza in 1938.

Massaro was the first recipient of the prestigious Gabriel Luchetti art scholarship, named for a well-known Wooster Square artist. Massaro is an accomplished sculptor, portrait painter and educator, with a career spanning fifty years.
